Kelly Baun

Kelly holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kent State University (OH) where she graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2009. She began her dance training at The School of Cleveland San Jose Ballet and continued at local dance studios where she studied various styles of ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. Throughout her education, Kelly has received numerous scholarships and awards for national and regional competitions as well as her dedication to and leadership in dance.

As a three year member of the Kent Dance Ensemble, she was invited to perform at the 2008 Intercontinental Dance Festival in Madison, WI and with Verlezza Dance in Cleveland, OH. She was chosen as both a soloist and featured performer in numerous student and faculty choreographed concerts at KSU and has also danced in works by Tommy Parlon (D.C.) and Lisa Lock (Cleveland).

Kelly has taught both in the private and public school setting as well as in dance ministry. She is most passionate about ballet and contemporary dance styles, but has a heart for all dance forms. She is looking forward to working with such inspiring students and teachers at SEDA!

The following year Katherine joined another local dance company known as Wilmington    X-treme All-star Dancers.  There, Katherine focused on Hip Hop and Jazz Technique.  Katherine was with WXA for three years performing on the Senior and Collegiate levels.  She was selected as Captain each of the three years by her coach and her peers.

In 2005 Katherine was given the opportunity to go to New York City to attend the Rockette Summer Intensive held at Radio City Music Hall.  She accepted the invitation and in June of 2005 Katherine flew to NY and took several classes with the Rockettes.

As a Senior in High School, Katherine returned to SEDA as a student.  She graduated in the Spring of 2007 from New Hanover High School.  Since then Katherine has danced for the Wilmington Sea Dawgs Semi-Pro Basketball Team.  Katherine has also performed locally with Opera House Theatre Company in The Will Roger Follies, My Fair Lady, The King and I, and most recently Hairspray.  She is thrilled to be a part of the SEDA family.
